Democracy is the political system of the U.S government because the origin of the United States is that of a non-democratic government and was wildly unsuccessful.
A political system is a way in which an entity (in this case a country) makes decisions. There are three common types of political systems:
- Authoritarianism
- Democracy
- Monarchy
For Authoritarianism, we can explain it as a dictatorship, in which one person has absolute rule over the country and makes all the decisions himself. This is similar to that of a monarchy, in which a King or Queen rules, through the use of military power. The United States has been known to actively combat political systems of this kind such as in Afghanistan and historically during the American Revolutionary War.
The United States of America is a country founded on the principles of freedom and liberty. Any political system that can be considered non-democratical would be in direct violation of the founding principles and the constitution of the United States. This is why democracy is the U.S political system.
