Explanation:

b. The development of diseases in the sixteenth century would support the arguments of the “new generation of historians in the second paragraph because the “new generation of historians” would look at this in relation to european imperialism and see the impact of the european diseases like smallpox that would plague places like modern day united states because of the european immunity, but lack of native immunity.

c. The “biological competition” contributed to the European imperialism in the Americas by creating a survival of the fittest environment where the europeans brought in diseases like smallpox that had plagued europe generations ago, but infected the native populations and weaken them in both their numbers and their strength, which enabled the Europeans to take control of the new world and develop a dominance while the natives were fighting a disease. This was “biological competition” because the Europeans' immunity was assisting them in fighting the natives' lack thereof.

One of the 16th-century developments that would support the "new generation of historians" biological pressure that Native Americans had to undergo as a result of the arrival of new diseases, brought to America by Europeans.

These diseases caused the death of many natives, which helped imperialism to continue.

Through similar questions to yours, we can see that your questions refer to the text in the attached figure. Based on this, we can answer the questions as follows:

  • When the Europeans arrived on the American continent, they had to compete for territory with the natives.
  • This competition generated many conflicts, which resulted in the complete domination of the region by the Europeans.
  • Although the natives also possessed weapons and had their own combat tactics, they were unable to fight the diseases that the Europeans brought to America.
  • This is because the natives' bodies were not adapted to common European diseases, such as smallpox, for example.
  • In this case, the natives had no biological resistance to these diseases and this was a disadvantage compared to the Europeans.

As these diseases were contagious, Native Americans came into contact with sick Europeans, caught the disease, and were unable to fight it. This caused almost an extermination of the natives, which helped the advance of imperialism on the continent.
