Well we are trying to figure out what "a" equals.
So we have to isolate "a" (get it alone on one side)
Remember this one rule every time you solve equations. (What ever you do to one side, you must do to the other.
We have to cancel out 5 by dividing by 5
So lets divide (BOTH SIDES) by 5
5a = -75
÷5 = ÷5
Now the 5 on the left side cancels out so our letter "a" is all whats left.
And we have to solve on the right side of the equal sign. -75 ÷ 5 = -15
So the 5 disappears and we write -15 down in the place of -75
Here's what we have left.
x = -15
And that's our answer!!
