Natural selection is a phenomena of differential survival and reproduction. It states that individual having better phenotypic traits being an advantage over the other hold better chances of survival and reproduction. These traits are also passed on from the one generation to the next generation.

Cheetahs with longer legs are more likely to capture prey is an example of natural selection. As, the cheetah has adapted to have long legs which favors it's running capability in order to capture the prey. Making it fit to survive under the conditions of scarcity of food.
