Domesticating animals is a way of adapting, as humans are using the animals to their advantages. Creating farms modified the environment through use of land and changing the structure of the environment.
Building canals to get water would be modifying the environment, as it is changing the structure of the land and allowing water to irrigate and land it passed through.
Removing trees causes the surrounding environment to be modified in a way that animals are affected and lose their habitats. Removing shrubs is a way to adapt as it can be used to clear out land which can be used for farming.
