The Mexican-American War started as a consequence of the American annexation of Texas in 1845. The annexation, carried out during the government of James Polk, was aimed at American expansionism towards the Pacific, according to the theory of Manifest Destiny. Faced with this annexation, the Mexican government felt it was violated in its rights over Texas, and declared war on America.  After two years of battles, the Americans finally triumphed, annexing New Mexico and California, and consolidating their dominance over Texas.

The point of view about the Mexican-American War that was expressed by the writer was that there are different uncertainties relating to the event.

It should be noted that the Mexican-American War was a consequence of the American annexation of Texas in 1845. According to the writer, it was unsure if whether the blood that was shed was within their territory or not.

Manifest Destiny simply means that the United States is destined to expand its dominion across the North American continent. This relates to the events or views expressed in the document.
