The North was a industrial power house. The North held more than 70% of the railroads and factories of the nation. The North had also doubled the population. The North and the South were very different most of this comes from the fact that the South based most of there economics on it and the North was very against it. The North was also a Republic while the South was a Democratic party, this along with the other reasons I have stated in this is the reason the two sides slowly became more distant over time. The longer the North and the South held these disagreements the worse they had become and the also what led up to the Civil War
