The chaparral biome is witnessed in the small sections of the majority of continents, including the west coast of South America, the west coast of the United States, the western tip of Australia, the Capetown areas of South Africa, and the coastal regions of the Mediterranean. It is also known as the Woodland, Mediterranean forest, and the shrub biome.
The rosemary, oregano, and thyme shrubs in the biome produce toxic or irritating components in their roots so that the other trees or plants cannot grow in their vicinity.
