This peninsula is located on the southeastern Mexico and is separated by the Caribbean sea from the gulf. It has an approx 181,000 km square area and is entirely composed of limestone.
This peninsular significantly compromises a part of the Mayan low lands that extends to the south of the peninsular.And this area used to be one of the cattle ranching and logging areas.
The economy is oriented to tourism and geologically is composed of the carbonate and soluble rocks. The climate of this place is vulnerable to large tropical storms and occurrences of the heavy flooding.
