Metals give and nonmetals take, which means its a nonmetal. And nothing in group 18, because they don't react with anything. So its probably Si, P, S, or Cl, but Silicon has the least amount of electrons, and is a nonmetal so maybe that... not sure tho lol

The element in period 3 has the greatest tendency to gain electrons is Fluorine.

In a periodic table, the elements are arranged in the form of increasing order of atomic number. The group 1 has been arranged with metals, with moving towards group 18, the elements are nonmetallic.

The electron has been gained by the most electronegative nonmetallic element in order to complete its octet, and attain stable noble gas configuration.

The most electronegative element in period 3 has been Fluorine. It has 7 valence electrons and require an electron to complete its octet. Thus, fluorine readily have the tendency to gain electron.
