Belief that different races have different qualities that deme them inferior or superior. I would say that when I think about the origins of racism I think back to the Enlightenment. In that time period the concept of Natural Law emerged. The whites saw themselves superior to blacks, they (whites) said it was because the universe named them the superior race. This mindset gave rise to ideas such as “paternalism” and the white savior ideology that whites are the race that is supposed to “save” the “inferiors”.
