the federalists supported a strong central government and advocated for the signing of the constitution while the anti federalists were against a strong central government and wanted more power for the states. anti federalists wanted a bill of rights to be added to the constitution to limit the federal governments power, but the federalists saw the bill of rights as unnecessary.
