France also hated the outcome of the Franco-Prussian War which they lost the territory of Alsace-Lorraine to Germany. Then when military alliances had formed between Europeans, this caused a rivalry that would be fought against each other in WW1. What sparked WW1 was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
