There are ways in which gender inequality in relationships could contribute to teenage pregnancy. Here are some ways:

  • Relegating child training to a single parent: When the training of a child is left to a single parent, the girl child may not get the full attention she wants and therefore she seeks it outside.
  • Neglecting parental duties: When the parents neglect their parental duties due to unusual gender inequality issues, teenage pregnancy may affect the girl child.
  • Girl child violence: Subjecting the girl child to violence and discrimination in the home will push her outside were she will become vulnerable to being impregnated.

What is gender inequality?

Gender inequality is known to be a social issue whereby men and women are not actually treated equally. Most times, gender inequality results due to the cultural background and/or psychological orientation.

We can see that when there gender inequality in a family relationship, the girl child is vulnerable to teenage pregnancy.
