Causes of Earthquake
An earthquake is caused by a sudden slip on a fault. The tectonic plates are always slowly moving, but they get stuck at their edges due to friction.
Five causes of earthquake?
1. Volcanic Eruptions. The main cause of the earthquake is volcanic eruptions.
2. Tectonic Movements. The surface of the earth consists of some plates, comprising of the upper mantle
3. Geological Faults
4. Groundwater extraction – decrease in pore pressure.
5. Groundwater – increase in pore pressure.
6. Heavy rain.
7. Pore fluid flow.
8. High CO2 pressure.
9. Building dams.

Now, Boundaries between tectonic plates are made up of faults. which are associated with the various types of fault, normal, reverse and strike-slip faults
