Lincoln's goal in the 10 percent plan is the quick readmittance of Confederate States after the end of the Civil War. Lincoln felt that it was best for the nation to reunite as quickly as possible. One of Lincoln's fears was that reuniting the US would be a long drawn out process in which Southerners would continue to resent Northerners. Ultimately, only some parts of Lincoln's 10 percent plan is used as he is assassinated shortly after the end of the Civil War. President Andrew Johnson will use some of the ideas discussed by Lincoln in order to reunite the country.
