How do the literary voices of the Puritan settlers and their descendants differ from the voices of the Revolutionary Period? In what ways are they similar? As you respond, consider the writers' values, beliefs, and concerns, as well as the historical events that shaped their lives.

There is a difference in theories about life and God. People from the Revolutionary period, such as Thomas Jefferson and Ben Franklin were deists (deism). Puritans such as Jonathan Edwards were devout to their God and very involved in theocracy. Everything derives from God as opposed to what the deists believed. Look up def for deism. It should help.
