Answer:

I think that the house has always been like this but never got turned off because of the death of the owners. Since the story takes place in 2026, there’s a lot more technology in the world. The owner of the house programmed it to do the stuff that it does. But after the explosion, the owner died and couldn’t turn it off. The house was the only thing left and was surrounded by the debris of the other houses. Since the house is so smart, that means that the owner had smart ideas when putting it together, so maybe the owner thought too much and accidentally blew the system up destroying everything in the city but the house. The only things that the house lacks is intelligence and feeling. The house lives on despite the lack of life and is always battling nature. It is an external conflict. The house represents man because it was created by man; the tree represents nature because it starts a fire that battles man. The tree branch crashes through the window. The house tries to put out the fire by using the sprinkler system, but the water runs out. The robots come out with green chemicals. The doors spring shut. The wind feeds the fire. Then the attic explodes. The house starts losing the battle against nature and soon burns down. The house is destoyed but the voice-clock announces the day. The theme is that nature will go even after mankind verges. Technology has the strength to demolish humanity. Technology can manipulate us.
