Answer: When we meet Scrooge, he is a miserly and cruel man. He dismisses everyone’s Christmas wishes and opportunities for charity and goodwill. By the end of the story, Scrooge becomes someone who loves charity and lives the message of Christmas every day. This change is most obvious in his changed relationship with his clerk, Bob Cratchit. Despite years of loyalty and quiet acceptance of his cruelty, Scrooge continued to pay Bob a low salary and grudgingly granted him leave on Christmas day. At the end, Scrooge not only raises Cratchit’s wages, but also becomes his friend. He even becomes a father figure to Cratchit’s son, Tiny Tim.
