It's a pretty controversial topic. The benefits to it being an official language is everybody is able to community's weir each other. (this does not mean we have to give up each of our own differences or heritages/ cultural tranditions) but this does force people to use the "official language" more because it's well... official. The disadvantages is that it may ruin all the lovely differences our world has, for example, we may argue over which language should is official. Personally I find japanese very appealing(I would be sad if it were to disappear). Technically the two lanaiges that are widely known are english and chinese since it is included in most language learning courses. Personally, I do not want an official language but instead implement a second language most people should learn(english) and not make it an optional thing. That could serve as our "official language" yet not official at the same time. Continue to speak to our families and friend in whatever we want.
