If the circle is colored in I just think it means extra ink/lead that you have to use so it also means that you use extra ink/lead to put the line under the equation… (so if it’s an open circle it is just the normal equation signs: < > ) And then if you put x in the front, your equality sign will point in whichever direction the arrow is pointing
