The big five factors of poverty (as a social problem) include: ignorance, disease, apathy, dishonesty and dependency. These, in turn, contribute to secondary factors such as lack of markets, poor infrastructure, poor leadership, bad governance, under-employment, lack of skills, lack of capital, and others.

Basics services refers to some public service systems provided majorly be the government to meet human basic needs.

  • Overpopulation: This is not applicable to first tier countries because services are distributed equally. Rather, the second and third countries faced this problem of providing enough services for the entire population of the country.
  • Unequal wealth distribution: Some location in a country suffers lack of basis services and the phenomenon for reason best known to the government.
