Water is called a universal solvent because it can act as a solvent in many
different solutions.

important which is why it is a compound which is commonly present
everywhere across the earth.
Water is a solvent and has the ability to dissolve different types of solutes
and solutions as a result of its high polarity. The substances must however
be polar too in order for this to take place as water doesn't act as a solvent in
