Many people think that forced marriage leads to unhappy & unhealthy relationships between the couple. While this is true in some cases, most of the time forced/arranged marriage has worked out well. Take the case of India, a country towards the south of Asia. With a large population & diverse culture, forced/arranged marriage takes place more than love marriage. Here's an interesting fact - India doesn't have a high record of divorce cases too. According to a report in 2019, there was roughly about 1% of divorce cases in India whereas the US had a high rate of divorce cases & here love marriage is prevalent. So, forced/arranged marriage proves to be a good one in most cases. Here are some of the benefits of forced/arranged marriage :-

  1. Usually, your older relatives or parents choose your spouse. They are older & wiser & will only choose the best for their children. So, they'll arrange marriage with a person who reaches your status & interests. Sometimes when people choose their partners in love marriages, they might go for a person who is way lower or higher than their status. This will lead to many conflicts.
  2. Even though you may not know your partner all that well right after the marriage, you can get to know him/her better in the long run. In love marriages, people sometimes lose interest in their loved ones while the chances are low in forced/arranged marriage.
  3. Things might start off as awkward during the start especially in forced/arranged marriage. But it'll surely get better. This way, you can understand your partner's interests & hobbies & adapt to their lifestyle. In love marriages the couple already know each other well. This might lead to less exciting thrills & boredom.
