  • She cried so much that her tears could fill a deep puddle of water.

Hyperbole is an exaggeration that should not be taken literally. They however help us to understand the intensity of something being described.

In the first instance, the woman is not a large pile of snow but the description can help us to understand how cold and shocked she was when she heard of the death of her child.
