Respuesta :

A question that would help determine if an author was biased is whether the C.  argument support the author's own political opinions?

Bias occurs when a person misrepresents a source to make it support a certain viewpoint that they are trying to prove.

An author for instance, might have certain political affiliations which they are trying to prove correct and so will interpret a historical source in such a way that it appears that the source favors their argument.

The other options are wrong because:

  • academic qualifications or lack thereof do not have much bearing on a person being biased
  • people agreeing with an argument does not mean that agreeing with the same argument is biased
  • other authors making similar arguments is not necessarily a source of bias as the argument could be true

In conclusion, an author might misrepresent a historical source to support their political views which is why it is important to find out an author's political views on a subject to check for bias.
