The larger of 2 numbers is twice the smaller. Four more than the smaller number is the same as 6 less than the larger number. Find the two numbers.

Let the two numbers be 'x' and 'y'.

As given in the question,

[tex]y = 2x[/tex]

Now,

[tex]4 + x = y - 6[/tex]

[tex]4 + x = 2x - 6[/tex]

[tex]4 + 6 = 2x - x[/tex]

[tex]10 = x[/tex]

Therefore the two numbers are:

[tex]x = 10[/tex]

[tex]y = 2x = 20[/tex]
