The main function of electron transport chain
(ETC) is a production of ATP. It takes electrons freed in the previous
stages of cellular respiration. As electron pass each
transport point through the chain, they lose energy. That lost energy is actually stored in the
phosphate bonds of ATP inside the cell. Now, ATP will be used for the
production of glucose that plants use.
