It seems it uses a LOT of descriptive words. Though, all it's telling us, is that a bird came from the sky, seeming like a tiny black dot, from how far away it was. It proceeds to give us a description; a small, silent flier, ruffled wings. It then tells us the bird/creature landed on a shrub, on the edge of the field.
That's basically all it means. It's giving a lot of descriptions to help paint a picture to add mystery.
