There are three basic transformations that can be done to a shape. They are reflection, rotation, and translation.

- Translation
These transformations move the shape without making any changes to its shape or size. A reflection flips a shape over to create a mirror image. The dotted line in the video is like a reflection. (The triangle below on the right side has been reflected (flipped) over the dotted line to create a mirror image. The second shape we see across the line is called an image. It is exactly opposite of the first shape.
