1) In Experiment 1, when the acid is added, the color of the solution goes from light (suggesting base) to dark (suggesting acid). As such in this case, adding the acid resulted in an ACIDIC solution.
2)The opposite is true in Experiment 2. When the acid is added, the color remains light (suggesting base). As such in this case, the resulting solution is BASIC.
3) Experiment 2 is when the acid is added to buffer the base. A buffer solution, as you remember, is a solution the resists changes to pH when an acid or base is added. Since the addition of the acid in Experiment 2 was done so the pH doesn't change as drastically as in Experiment 1, then we can conclude that it was done to create a buffer solution.
