Srivijaya is the name of an empire located on the island of Sumatra (present-day Indonesia) around the 7th century. Its commercial network was characterized by:

- In the 11th century, it expanded its influence to Madagascar (Africa) due to migrations.

Viking is the name by which a large community of Germanic warriors is known that was characterized by dominating northern Europe and Scandinavia. In the commercial field, they were characterized by:
- They were divided into three main groups which were: Da.nish, Norwegians, and Swedes.
- The Da.nish dominated the region that connected the North Sea with the Baltic Sea.
- Between these three groups, there was commercial interaction. However, the Vikings were characterized by looting and piracy against other European peoples.
- They ruled the North Sea and are believed to be the first Europeans to reach America.
