There are four main constituents of a use-case diagram. They are:

  1. The actors who interact with the system
  2. the system
  3. the use cases and
  4. the lines that represent the relationships

UCDs are used to

  • capture the requirements of a system
  • acquire the external persons' point of view
  • identify risk factors associated with a project.
