Rizal said that independence for the Philippines was inevitable due to the fact that he saw that the Filipinos did not see the Spanish with patriotism and loyalty.
Rizal believed that his people were to get their independence gradually. He was opposed to a situation were the people would revolt and pick up arms against the Spanish.
