There are a lot of great Art work in History. Metope is a square sculpture positioned between triglyphs on the Parthenon's Doric frieze.

  • A metope is simply known to  be a rectangular architectural element that occupies the position between two triglyphs in a Doric frieze. It is known to be a adorning band of alternating triglyphs and metopes above the architrave of a building of the Doric order.

They are known to have a warlike exposure, like the adorning of the chryselephantine statue of Athena Parthenos.

The Metopes of the Parthenon are known to be the lasting piece of the 92 square carved plaques of marble. They are said to be found above the columns of the Parthenon on the Acropolis of Athens.
