The intended audience for the character of Eager Mercutio in the play Romeo and Juliet was:

The author's message was:

  • To show how foolish Romeo was for falling in love with Juliet who did not even acknowledge his existence.

Based on the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, we can see that the author shows the character of Mercutio who is the best friend of Romeo who is smart, quick witted and rational. He tries to persuade Romeo to forget about Juliet as he does not believe in true love.

Furthermore, we can see that even though Mercutio was a loyal friend to Romeo and tried his best to let Romeo see reason, Romeo was even more determined to win the heart of Juliet.
