Now, these photoreceptors are used for Visual Photo transduction which is simply a process that converts light into electrical signal right in the photo receptors of the eye.

Now, Cones are types of photoreceptors that require a significant amount of bright light and as such requires large amounts of photons to produce a signal.

This cones are usually located right at the center of the Retina which in and around the Fovea Centralis because Fovea contains only cones.
