Respuesta :

1. Black History Month had just been concluded and Colvin was educated and inspired by what she was learning about the U.S. Constitution and the history of African Americans.  So she knew better.

2. Claudette Colvin filed a petition to have her Juvenile arrest record expunged. The arrest is in connection to her refusal to give up her seat for a young white woman on the bus as a 15-year-old black female.

3. Nine months later, the same action was carried out in protest by Rosa Parks. This time, it made the news all over the world and the civil rights movement such as the Women's Political Council circulated fliers on the night of Park's arrest canvassing for a boycott of the bus system.

4. Colorism refers to the act or acts of discrimination against people with a dark skin tone, especially within the same racial sect. This had nothing to do with Ms. Colvin not becoming a major face in the movement. She was not presented as a viable figure because she had a child out of wedlock.

5. The Browder V. Gayle case led to the outlawing of racial segregation on buses as it was not constitutional. Colvin in the same case was a plaintiff. She testified to being mistreated on the bus.

6. She was skeptical about the reliability of the judicial system and wasn't sure if she could pull it off.

7. Judge Calvin L. Williams has promised that the rulings will ensure that the records are destroyed. This is significant especially because, he himself is black.
