They used words as weapons. "You ride with Hitler when you ride alone." "Slippery lips may sink ships." Messages made the fight more personal—you can make a difference, and the soldiers rely on you. Some posters also appealed to people's patriotic instincts, urging them to "do this and be a good American." They were cheerful and upbeat, colorful and upbeat. Other posters depicted the negative aspects of war. They were replete with disturbing pictures of what had happened in other countries and what could happen in America if everyone did not do their part.
Posters were also utilized to boost morale and enthusiasm during the battle. They made it apparent that everyone was in this war together and that everyone had a critical role to play. This also contributed to the public's sense of involvement.
