In Unit 5 we learned how Jacksonian democracy expanded suffrage (right to vote) to nearly all white men. Since then suffrage has expanded to all men (15th Amendment, 1870), all women (19th Amendment, 1920). and 18- year-olds (26th Amendment, 1971). How do you think expanding suffrage impacts the U.S. and Americans? What are the responsibilities of having the right to vote? AND/OR Manifest destiny was a widely held belief in the 19th-century United States that American settlers were entitled to conquer and control North America. Imagine you were one of those citizens who was exploring and conquering new lands. Write a diary entry about how Manifest Destiny influenced you, how you prepared for the journey west, and what you did when you arrived in your home.​
