explain how to use repeated adition to write the multiple of a fraction as the product of a whole number and a unit fraction. (
sorry about the spelling)

Respuesta :

Multiplication is the same as repeated addition.

So, let us take an example for a better understanding :

[tex]\frac{2}{3} \times 4[/tex]

Looks more like this :

[tex]\frac{2}{3}+\frac{2}{3} +\frac{2}{3} = \frac{2}{3} =\frac{8}{3}[/tex]

[ If you add them up, we will get the same answer if we multiply it ]

Same as [tex]\frac{2}{3} \times\frac{4}{1} =\frac{8}{3}[/tex]

On the other hand if you have whole numbers that you need to solve like [tex]3 \times 4[/tex]this means that [tex]3[/tex] is added [tex]4[/tex] times

[tex]3 + 3+ 3+ 3 = 12[/tex]

Which would be the same thing as

[tex]3 \times 4 = 12[/tex]
