Compare what Bronson and West have to say about the conditions in the mills with what The Harbinger piece has to say. Does it match up with their contention that mill-work is as bad as slavery in the South?

Respuesta :

A comparison of Bronson and West's position and the Harbinger piece on the conditions in the mills show that they match up, depicting mill-work being as bad as Southern slavery.

What was mill-work like?

The conditions in the mills were deplorable, to say the least.  Sometimes, wages were decreased while rent for boarding facilities was increased.  The purpose was to favor the capitalist owners.

This practice by mill owners is similar to the attitude of the slaveholders in the South since they remove human dignity from their workers while imposing harsh conditions at the same time.

Thus, we can conclude that their contention that mill-work is as bad as slavery in the South matches up.
