The function of the digestive system is to digest and absorb the food that we eat . Which means that we have two main processes , digestion and absorption. Digestion is the breakdown of food into small molecules, which are then absorbed in your body (during the process of absorption).
the mouth grinds food and its salivary glands make an enzyme thats helps water break starch into glucose, goes down esophagus, stomach grinds, stomach acid activates an enzyme that breaks protein into amino acids, food moves into the small intestine, the pancreas makes the enzymes, liver makes bile, gull bladder stores bile, the common bile duct delivers enzymes and bile to the small intestine, in the small intestine the fat is separated by bile so that the enzyme can help water break fat into 3 fatty acids & glyceral, the enzymes help water break protein into amino acids, enzymes help water break starches into glucose, the building blocks are then absorbed into the walls of the small intestine, the undigested foods (cellulose) goes into the large intestine, the large intestine removes the water , and then the undigested stuff goes into the toilet lol
