A thesis statement must contain the main point or idea of the essay in one or two sentences in order to help the reader to understand what topic the text is going to discuss. When the author is working on an argumentative essay, he/she also adds his/her viewpoint in the thesis statement; however, specific details about the topic are never included in this part of the text. Furthermore, the thesis statement of an essay is included in the introduction.
