Susan Kiefel was named First Judge of the Supreme Court of Justice of Australia, after of more than a century, the men had directed the highest court of the Australia. She has been a judge for 23 years and a barrister for 16 years, in her 62 years of life. Susan Kiefel left school at age 15 to work as a legal secretary, and after that she studied part-time law at the board of lawyers admission, she also earned a Master of Laws degree at the University of Cambridge.
Susan Kiefel was appointed to the High Court of Australia as Chief Justice on the same day that the first woman was appointed to that bench.
