Operation Torch's purpose was to regain control of North Africa (OPTION 1), more specifically in west North Africa (Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia)

The operation consisted of the U.K. and the U.S invasion of western North Africa during World War II from 8 to 16 of November 1942. At the time, the territory was occupied by the Vichy French Government, an authoritarian regime aligned with Nazi Germany, though it was believed that many of its people supported the Allies.
