The colonists resented the new taxes the British Parliament imposed on them because they didn't have a say. (C)

The whole reasoning behind the Revolutionary War and how the U.S. became it's own country was due to them being upset about the crazy ridiculous taxes that they were being forced to pay.
"No taxation without representation!" was the motto of their revolt against the Parliament and Crown.

The Intolerable Acts were what the colonists called all the taxes on them.
The Boston Tea Party was a retaliatory response to the Tea tax.
There was a tax on sugar.
Stamp tax - you were required to pay a tax on any official document to get a stamp for it, otherwise it was null and void

There was a lot more behind all of it, but I won't get into it.

The colonists resented the new taxes imposed by Parliament after 1763  because people who lived in Britain did not have to pay taxes.

Further Explanations:

After the British triumph in the French Indian war, the territorial extension of Britain exceeded too much. Though Britain won the war but the triumph costs them too much as the nation went into an enlarged debt.  The war was a significant turning point in the relation between America and Great Britain. The war increased the British control over the non-British colonies.

As per the war reparation program, the British Parliament conceded the Stamp act on 22nd March 1765. The act introduced a new tax in the colonizing of America enforced that the tax will be levied for every piece of paper they use. Taxes were imposed on all legal documents, licenses, newspapers, playing cards a and even on publication. The most ironic thing was that these taxes were not levied in Britain that became the reason behind its opposition.
