The difference between a chromosone and a chromatid is that chromosome consist of DNA.(The double helix) DNA is coiled and recoiled around certain proteins called histones. Later on the DNA is replicated..and this results in two identical copies of DNA that are connected to each other at the centromere. Each copy is called a chromatid.
The resulting two identical copies of DNA are connected to each other at the centromere. Each copy is called a chromatid. A chromosome, before cell division is formed by one chromatid while it is formed pf two chromatids after cell division.
