A genotype is all of the POSSIBLE combinations of alleles that could
POSSIBLY be expressed, a genotype is generally very large.
A phenotype is what is ACTUALLY expressed.
A good example is eye color...the possible eye colors in a human are
green, blue, brown ect, these are genotypes. If a person has blue eyes,
that is their personal phenotypic eye color, you can observe it.

genotype is to phenotype as quantitative data is to qualitative data.
they are alike because genotype is a 2 letter code while phenotype is a
physical description and quantitative data is data using numbers and
qualitative data is data using physical descriptions hope this helps
