Confucian scholars would be opposed to this system given that it was against the teachings of Confucius which includes:

  • government morality (This is the main point here). The Taiping rebelled against the government.
  • Justice
  • Kindness
  • Sincerity

How the system was an opposition to Confucius's teachings

It was rebellious in nature. The idea that the religion founder had was to cleanse out the people that did not agree with his teachings.

Also they tried to use force as a means of getting people to agree with their religious movement.

2. The strengths in the economic program

  • Land distribution was shared based on family sizes.
  • They did not discriminate on gender.
  • Everyone was to work together.

The weaknesses of the system

  • It did not allow the people to have private property.
  • Given that the people could not see the supreme leader who is said to be in heaven, the system of sharing things seems like a hoax.
  • The system did not allow people to live their private life and establish their own way of survival.

3 . Difference between the two governments

The Taiping was more transparent compared to the Qing that was full of corruption.
